Group of photographs depict the Rider College Chapter of the Phi Sigma Nu fraternity's January 23, 1947 reenactment of George Washington's 1776 Christmas day crossing of the Delaware River. The troops then proceeded to Trenton where they reenacted the surprise attack against sleeping Hessians, who were guarding Trenton for the British. Washington and his troops were played by the fraternity's pledges as part of an initiation ritual, and the Hessians were played by the fraternity brothers. The event was depicted in the February 17, 1947 issue of Life magazine. Photographs donated by Don B. Reynolds.
